Program Need

Amref Health Africa in collaboration with the Division of Community Health and other stakeholders took the initiative designed and developed a Leadership and Management training programme to improve delivery of the Community Health Services in Kenya. The Leadership, Management and Governance (LMG) program was been informed by a training needs assessment (TNA) that was conducted and identified leadership skills as being a critical factor in successful implementation of the Community Health Strategy (CHS).

The Community Health Systems Strengthening (CHSS), LMG curriculum has been customized from the Management Development Institute (MDI) Leadership, Management and Governance (LMG) curriculum. The training will meet the needs of leaders involved in the management and implementation of the CHS at national and county levels.

Ten courses are proposed to close the gaps in leadership, management and governance in the delivery of Community health services at the county and national level. They include; Leadership and Human Resource Management, Organizational Planning, Operations Management, Governance and Ethics, Quality Management, Health Management Information System, Community Healthcare Financing, Social Marketing, Project Monitoring and Evaluation and Financial Management.
